High Point Marriage License Guide

High Point is known as the furniture capital of the world and is the second largest city in Guilford County. Marriage licenses in High Point are issued by the Guilford County Register of Deeds. Guilford County is the only county in North Carolina with two Register of Deeds offices, one in Greensboro and one right in High Point. This gives High Point residents the convenience of a local office. The city clerk does not handle marriage licenses. Both applicants must appear in person with ID and Social Security information.

High Point Marriage License Filing

North Carolina law places marriage licenses at the county level. High Point is unique because Guilford County has two Register of Deeds offices. The High Point office at 325 E. Russell Avenue, Room 155, is the only branch office of its kind in the state. This means High Point residents do not have to drive to the Greensboro office to get a marriage license. Both offices offer the same services and charge the same fees. You can apply at either location.

High Point Marriage License Fees

The marriage license is $60. An optional keepsake certificate costs $1 at the time of issuance. Certified copies of the marriage certificate are $10 each. Uncertified copies cost $0.05 in person or $1.00 per page by mail. Applicants 62 or older can get their first certified copy for free if they are the certificate owner.
