Cumberland County Marriage License Application

Go to the Register of Deeds office at 117 Dick Street, Room 114, Fayetteville, NC 28301. Marriage license applications are accepted from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You must arrive by 4:00 PM to start the process. The full office is open until 5:00 PM on weekdays. It is closed on county holidays.

Both people must appear in person. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID. You also need proof of your Social Security number. If you are under 21, bring a certified birth certificate. If you were married before, you need the month and year of the divorce or the death of your former spouse. If the divorce was within the last 30 days, bring a certified copy of the decree. There is a 24-hour waiting period after a divorce before you can apply for a new marriage license in North Carolina.

Cumberland County Marriage License Fees

The fee is $60. Cumberland County accepts cash, checks, money orders, and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover). There is a minimum of $10 for credit card transactions. The license is valid immediately and lasts 60 days. It can be used anywhere in North Carolina. After the ceremony, the officiant must return the signed license to the Cumberland County Register of Deeds.

Age Rules for Marriage in Cumberland County
